Whether you are a handy home decorator or an enthusiastic renovator, there are a number of DIY essential skills that every homeowner should know.
While you don't have to be an expert in the field of garden landscaping - or any other major renovation job for that matter - a bit of know-how when it comes to DIY work goes a long way, and will save you money on hiring a professional!
Water exposure as well as general wear and tear can leave grouting and caulking looking unsightly - instantly bringing down the appearance of your bathroom or kitchen.
From discolouration and mould, to crumbling and peeling, grouting can become a real eyesore, but the good news is re-caulking in between tiles is manageable for even the most inexperienced DIYer, and it will brighten a room instantly.
To remove the grout you will need a bladed tool to scrape the old caulking out. Once you have done this, clean the surface thoroughly to ensure no dust or particles remain.
When re-grouting, make sure you have a mixture with the consistency of toothpaste - spread this over the surface with a squeegee to ensure the grout gets in all the gaps.
Once the grout or caulking is set, you can use a damp sponge to remove any excess.
