Melbourne tradies have been warned about a spate of ute thefts in the Ferntree Gully area, with police urging people to remain on alert.
According to News Limited report this week (November 7), thefts were recorded from several cars and utes in the area on the evening of November 4, with Cornhill Street, Barton Ave, Turnbridge Way and McIver Street all targeted.
Police expect the number of thefts to increase following Victoria's long weekend, with some tradespeople unlikely to have discovered they are a victim yet.
Knox senior-constable Rick Rottinger said it was vital that all people, including tradies, are vigilant with securing their vehicles, and if possible, keep them off the roadside..
With reports of expensive tools and equipment being stolen, tradies impacted by the thefts may find themselves unable to carry out their normal work duties.
Insurance claims and the return of equipment can be a long process - to minimise the amount of downtime, tradies may want to use tools from their local Kennards store, helping them carry on with work as normal.
Kennards boast a wide selection of gear including power tools, ladders, trestles and safety equipment.
